What We're Known For
Every tortilla is hand-pressed from nixtamalized corn, cooked on a comal the moment you order. No shortcuts, no store-bought shells.
Birria simmers for hours. Carnitas confit in their own rendered fat. We treat every cut with the patience it deserves.
Roasted tomatillos, charred habaneros, smoky chipotle — each sauce is blended fresh every morning. Heat level is your call.
Our Story
Taquería el Pueblito began as a small kitchen in a Mexican town where neighbors knew each other by name and meals were never hurried. The recipes — for birria, for carnitas, for the salsa that starts every morning with roasted chiles — were taught, not written down.
When we brought that kitchen to Galveston, we brought the same principles: corn masa pressed by hand, meat braised until it yields to the fork, salsas adjusted to taste, and a counter where you're welcome to stay as long as you like.
We don't claim to be fancy. We claim to be honest — about the ingredients, the technique, and the time it takes to do something the right way.
